This game has become much more interesting. In a action game of this variety, you expect the combat to be awesome and flashy through different combos. In the ?Combo Lab? one can customize?their?own combos. I will attempt to explain how this works.
For a recap, this game feature a character named ?Nilin? and well, she?s a brand new girl, because her memory has been wiped. Throughout the game, you will gain more and more memories, but not just for story purposes. You will learn certain fighting techniques. Moves you remember are known as Pressens and there are four different types of Pressens. There are 24 of these in total and are earned by performing combos and defeating enemies. Doing this gains you PMP (Procedural Mastering Power) which in turn will unlock some of these aforementioned Pressens. The four types are as follows.
Regen Presens ? ?Life regen when you hit your enemies, but the damage is not so great
Power Presens ? ?Heavy damage and finishers.
Cooldown Presens -?Reduce the cooldown period of special moves each time you attack. You however do smaller amounts of damage.
Chain Pressens -?Duplicate the previous Pressen in the chain and double it?s effect.
The game is very combo driven, and each combo you do gains you a certain amount of focus, which will also build towards certain moves called S-Pressens. My guess, these are pretty awesome moves. These are unlocked at key points in the story and have the following effects.
Fury ? ?Allows Nilin to hit for more damage and at longer distances.
D.O.S. ? Stuns enemies, reveals invisible enemies and cancels special powers. You could say it?s a debuffing skill, for you RPG fans out there.
Camo ? Exactly what it sounds like. Blend in and become basically invisible and perform a finisher.
Logic Bomb ? Damage done to enemies in range and is also capable of breaking shields.
Rest in Pieces -?Turns robots into your personal allies to attack any enemies on the ground.
Capcom claims that there are over 50,000 combinations, but I?m willing to bet the same 4 or 5 are actually useful. The customization however, does makes it?interesting?enough to be worth trying out, in my book.
This is quite a bit to take in, but from what I have seen, this game is becoming more and more interesting. You don?t have to take my word for it though. Decide for yourself with this video below that shall walk you through the ?Combo Lab?.
