Welcome to fall! Isn?t it great? Every year around this time, I browse magazines and peruse Pinterest to gaze at the stunning fall decorations that people create for their homes and wish I could have such pieces to spruce my place up.
Generally, those ideas just stay on the page or in the computer as I set a dish of candy corn on my table and a mum on my porch. This year, however, I decided to jump into a little fall project?in an effort to?bring fall indoors.
As I shared in an earlier post, I have been frequenting antique stores in the area lately. I love seeing all of the vintage items and even if I don?t buy something, I always have fun just looking.
It seems to me that a project generally just takes shape by itself. That?s the story of this project. It began?a few weeks back while at a local antique shop I found a group of some old jars, they were mixed and unique and the price was right so I snagged them not knowing yet?what I would do with them.

That was until this past weekend after my mom took a trip to my grandparents? farm and brought back this awesome wood box.
I love this box! It has the metal bracing and a great distressed look. Not only does it look cool, but it?s my Grandpa Joe?s!? So now I had jars and a box?where to now?
I decided it was time for some more inspiration, so I headed to?Avon Antiques, a local Hendricks County store that I had never visited. This store is located at 192 N. Ind. 267 in Avon behind the Kroger.

As soon as I saw the old barn door out front, I knew this would be a great place.
This store is tiny, but? it has tons of charm. The owners of Avon Antiques have done a wonderful job in selecting nice vintage pieces and displaying them in creative ways.
The store had everything from large wood pieces to a whole display of vintage bottles and a great selection of old jars. The vintage bottle display was inside an old crate similar to the one I had found which got me thinking.?It could be used either as a centerpiece or as a display case of sorts.
So, I took my ideas home knowing that I wanted to visit Avon Antiques in the near future for my next creative find!

Once home, it was off to Pinterest. I knew I wanted to use the jars and the box, and I knew how but I wanted to make it look fallish. I knew Pinterest would have the answer!
I found several things I liked but this tutorial caught my eye most. I liked the way the twine looked and the brown rugged look reminds me of fall. I decided to not do the ribbon with the twine but instead went with some old buttons I had.
These are the few supplies I needed to complete this project. Total cost was $15.
I used two of the larger jars I had and wrapped the centers in twine. I followed the instructions on wrapping the jars in the example from the tutorial above.
When the wrap had dried, I used an assortment of fall colored buttons and glued a few to the twine. I used my remaining buttons inside the jar and then placed a small candle in each.
With my two other smaller jars, I knew I wanted to bring some color in. I decided what better way to do that than with some fresh mums.
In an effort to coordinate with my kitchen color (slate blue), I went with some white and green large mum stems found from Plainfield florist Flowered Occassions. I also found some orange ribbon in a dollar bin at Michaels and tied it around the jars? rims. Now that all my jars were decorated, it was time to assemble my full decorating ensemble.
The first matching I did was for the centerpiece of my table.

I had to set something in the bottom of my box in order to really show off my jars. I liked it there but decided to also try the pieces with the box as more of a display case. This way I was only able to display two of my jars but I really liked it. I decided I could display this in my living room and display my coordating jars alone on my kitchen table.

This project was lots of fun, and I was happy with how it turned out. It was very inexpensive (no more than $15 for the whole project). Most importantly it was easy!?This experience with crafting has really given me the itch to try more.
