A global credit hedge fund with offices globally is looking to hire a new analyst/associate to join their fund to work with the distressed/special situations m. The team looks after all the distressed credits of the asset manager leveraged, real estate, ABS, infrastructure and public bond assets. Additionally the team manages a third-party European debt opportunities fund.
The team is made up of 6 portfolio managers and has one of the largest AUM within the distressed space. This role will see you joining a brand that everyone wants to for and one that looks excellent on your CV. This should be considered as your long term next step move to the buy side where you can work collaboratively and progress quickly within the fund. They only hire one analyst a year as they value organic growth within their firm.
This is a real quality stamp for technically strong candidates looking to manage large responsibilities early on. For this role you MUST have experience either in M&A, Leveraged Finance, Corporate Finance, DCM, Restructuring or Debt Advisory in general.
Responsibilities will include:-
- Published fundamental research on distressed corporates and event-driven situations, performing detailed business, financial, capital structure, valuation and restructuring analyses to evaluate potential investment opportunities
- Building detailed operating, LBO and restructuring models, conducted detailed due diligence and prepared recommendations for their client portfolio managers.
- Developed an understanding of restructuring/workout dynamics
- Strong interpersonal skills to develop strong relationships with top distressed hedge funds and their portfolio managers
- Meet with distressed debt hedge funds in London and their portfolios to discuss current trends and investment opportunities
- Arrange conference calls with hedge funds globally and entertain them when they come to London
- Attend distressed debt and credit hedge fund conferences monthly with clients representing the firm.
Our client is looking for a candidate as follows:-
- Understanding of the key distressed valuation methodologies
- An outstanding academic record
- Strong math, accounting and financial modelling skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Detailed understanding of the risk/returns associated with a variety of debt and equity investments.
- Extensive computer skills using Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint are required.
- Strong verbal and written skills are required. A naturally enthusiastic and charismatic attitude.
