Burnet County Sheriff? deputies arrested two men in the church parking lot of a Burnet church Wednesday and subsequently charged them possession of methamphetamine.
Members of the sheriff?s department?s Special Operations Unit observed a car in the parking lot of the Hill Country Fellowship Church in Burnet after spotting two men in the car, one of which was to known to have outstanding felony warrant out of Llano County, according to a sheriff?s department news release.
Sheriff?s deputies subsequently stopped the car the passenger, 32-year-old Paul Quinton Nash,was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and taken into custody.
The driver of the car, 39-year-old Robert Michael Taylor of Georgetown was found to have an active warrant by the City of Burnet? and he was taken into custody.
Taylor also was found to be in possession methamphetamine at the time of his arrest.
Both men were charged with Possession of Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1 with more than one gram but less than four grams in a drug free zone and were transported to the Burnet County Jail.
Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1 in a Drug Free Zone is a Felony of the Second Degree and is punishable by confinement of no less than two years and not more than 20 years and an optional fine not to exceed $10,000.
